PowerBook Meltdown
After I returned from LoveFest 2006 on Sunday morning, I noticed a screwy kernel panic on the screen of my PowerBook G4. So, I rebooted the machine and it worked okay. Later on Sunday, I attempted to boot it up, to no avail. I had planned to spend a couple of hours in my studio. Unfortunately, the PowerBook had other ideas.
According to the Genius Bar guy in Palo Alto, my PowerBook’s video hardware is failing. That causes kernel panic on start. The PowerBook was effectively useless. So, I asked Daniel and had him hook me up with a 15″ MacBook Pro. Today, I got it. Oh, it’s big.
Back up your drive, kids. Luckily, the PowerBook hard drive is fine, but $310 (minimum) from now, it might work again. I have to send it in, but now I have a smokingly fast new machine. Now, all I have to do is get a new set of my Reason CDs, which I left at my Grandma’s house in Idaho in December.
