Salted
I had considered going out to Om‘s monthly tonight, but when I saw that Frankie Feliciano (Ricanstruction, NYC) was spinning at Salted—a new monthly at Mighty—along with Julius Papp and Miguel Migs, I knew I couldn’t miss that party. With a ten dollar price tag for those of us who show up early, my decision was set and out the door I went.
I attempted to call some of my friends out to this shindig, but nobody was answering their phone. No matter. After a quick cab ride to the venue, I went inside and waited for the crowds to show up.
Mighty is a beautiful newish venue at the base of Potrero Hill with an astonishing sound system and several rooms. Julius Papp started off the party with a delicious set of big funky house tracks. Miguel Migs followed, playing a frenzy-inducing mix that got us all sweaty. Frankie Feliciano brought the roof down with a “moody” set that included tinges of funk, as well as a little taste of Brazil.
The crowd was young, friendly, and gorgeous. The party was still in full swing when I bolted out the door at three to catch the bus home. If this is how Saturdays are going to be every week at Salted, I will definitely be back.
