Stompy
Kat and Lance called me up (after I called them first) to let me know that the whole crew was going up to the Stompy monthly at Club Cocomo. Since I was on the way, they could stop and pick me up. I was absolutely down.
We got to the party about six, paid cover, and went inside. The venue is beautiful. The outside lounge area is huge and lush and has lots of places to sit and talk. The dancefloor/bar area has a wonderful hardwood floor, an incredible sound system, and lots of room. Preston was on the tables when we arrived, playing soulful jazzy house. Ken of the East Coast Boogiemen took over, followed by Tres Manos. Jonene closed out the night with a punchy set of classic tracks that had the whole crowd jumping hard until the end.
Patrick and Gigi bailed a little before nine, right when the music was getting good, but it was the first time I got to see them since my outings in San Francisco, back when I thought I was moving there. The crowd on the dancefloor was way too attractive for my ugly ass, but I had a great time anyway. I would have danced longer with more energy had I eaten a substantial meal before I headed out, but I’ll remember that for next time.
